Our Story
Built by hand, one acre at a time.
Fourteen gated acres in Driftwood, Texas — a main house, a guesthouse, and the barn where Don lives — developed from the ground up by one person, not a management company.
A one-man band, on site
This place exists because of every rental that disappointed him. Don travelled constantly and stayed in short-term rentals all over the world — some memorable for the right reasons, most for what was missing. Thin towels, a kitchen with no knife worth using, a photograph that flattered a room it had no business flattering. He built the Noble House and the Guesthouse to be the opposite of that: everything you would want already there, before you have to ask for it.
Don built this property himself — the main house, the guesthouse, and the modern barn at the far end where he lives about half the year. He calls himself a one-man band in how he runs it, and that shows up in the details: the water systems, the pool controls, the irrigation, the little fixes most hosts never think about because they never see the property.
He went to school in Cape Town, South Africa, and brought a particular idea of hospitality back with him — personal, unhurried, a little old-fashioned. Every guest message is written and sent by him, signed the same way: “With gratitude, Don.”
The land
The property runs on rain-harvested, ozone-purified water, with a Berkey filter on drinking taps and a cowboy pool filled fresh from rainwater before every stay. Deer, foxes, hawks, hummingbirds and a working beehive share the fourteen acres with guests, and a solar-lit path leads back to the guesthouse after dark.
None of it is staged for photos. It’s simply how the place is run, day to day, whether or not anyone is watching.
